In addition to our evening meetings we have some daytime get togethers such as games afternoons, coffee mornings, cocktail evenings, craft activities, walks and visits.
Take a look at our Instagram or Facebook pages to see what we've been doing recently! Amongst other places, we have visited Canary Wharf, Oxford Botanical Gardens, The Herb Farm, Basildon Park, Highgrove Gardens, Mottisfont , Eton College ,Combermere Barracks at Windsor,Greys Court, Dorney Court, Windsor Castle, Welford Park, Bath Museum of Fashion and the local theatre. We have represented the WI at M.E.R.L. summer fetes, Waterfest and Reading Pride festival. We've been on stage in a play at the Hexagon! We have visited a local care home for World Kindness Day. We are part of a group of local WIs called The Kennet Group. We have made and donated several quilts to Project Linus, a charity for sick children and have collected items for the soldiers in Afghanistan, and have also donated knitted scarfs and balaclavas for the soldiers, collected toiletries and nightwear for the local women's refuges and made up packs for emergency admissions to the RBH. Our current chosen charity is Berkshire Women's Aid, the local women's refuge. In 2012 we planted a Cedar tree in a nearby park, to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, and also an apple tree at Grey's Court to celebrate our 10th birthday in 2017. In 2015 some members formed a sub-committee called REDS which knits and crochets items and produces knitting & crochet kits which are sold locally, all profits going to our chosen charities. |
